yin yang

“Photography is an art of observation. It’s about finding something interesting in an ordinary place… It has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them.”

I have had a passion for photography for the past 45 years. It started with a Minolta Hi-Matic 35mm Camera, numerous rolls of black and white film, an enlarger and a spare bathroom. I began developing and printing my own photos. with the bathroom pressed into service as my darkroom. The bathtub was particularly usefull, holding trays of chemicals and also for washing the finished prints. It eventually had to be replaced due to staining, from all the spilt chemicals.

My next camera was a Fujica SLR camera and a progression to Slide Film. This remained my preferred medium until the advent of Digital Photography which resulted in an upgrade to a Sony DSLR. a 150-500mm Telephoto lens and a Macro lens.

My present camera is a Canon EOS 70D with an 18-135mm lens and also a 150-500mm Telephoto zoom lens. More advanced computers and software enabled me to do much more with the photos that I took.

A good camera certainly helps in taking better photos, but it is how you see the possibilites in a particular scene that can make the difference between a good shot and a great one. All the photographs on this website(including the Ocean Spirit Products) are my own work.
